Here is a snap of the snow as it fell at our house this past Monday morning. The interesting thing about this shot is that it seems to reveal a selective nature to the snow itself, i.e., it has only fallen on the South side of our street. You can see the bushes and driveway on my side are bare and dry while the entire driveway and even part of the street across the way are covered in a soft blanket of white.

Anyone care to explain this one?
I know BopOp and Grumpy can’t resist the urge.
Maybe it’s because your home is more welcoming (warmer) than those across the street. Is there a possibility that Hell may be freezing over? If so, be sure to go after whatever it was that you were told you could have when it did!
How about the fact that the radiant heat from the Sun is reflecting off your house and impacting directly on the street and your driveway, thus ever-so imperceptibly warming the earth just enough to keep the temperature at or above 32 degrees Fahrenheit? And the shadows of the houses across the street intercept those same warming rays from doing as much to the lawns and driveways on their North sides?

Drat! Grumpy got here before me! He’s absolutely correct about the orientation of the sun and the effect of shade on the temperature of the ground. Remember the rabbit tracks we found in the snow? They disappeared without a trace as soon as they crossed into the field beyond the reach of the tree shadows.
