If ‘buses passed’ can be used as a measurement of distance traveled by bike then today was a longer commute than normal – by a factor of 4.
Four city buses, one #9 and three #7 coaches were passed by a half-sick commuter on a bicycle between Rainier Beach high school and Dearborn – a distance of 5.5 miles.
Maybe Metro’s new RapidRide name should be applied elsewhere – just sayin’.
Perhaps the Seattle Police should consider whether a certain bicycle commuter’s speed on Rainier Avenue is “safe” or “unsafe”. (Tee hee!!)
[Grumpy remembers when he commuted via bicycle from Kenyon Street to Renton Plant — in the old days when there was a 50 mph speed limit on Rainier Avenue from Rainier Beach to Airport Way — and he beat his former carpool regularly. Biking is a grossly under-rated means of “Rapid Transit”!!]
