The original SPAM

After being sick for a week I went out and checked the mail.

original junk

This picture represents approximately one-third to half of the contents. It is just the catalogs that we got which are junk – and I removed the duplicates. There are about three-four catalogs/magazines we receive that we like to look at – also not in this stack.

There is another stack, equally big, which is coupons, flyers, remarkably few political pieces and other more difficult junk to track.

I am currently on the dmachoice.org website attempting to stem the tide. To say I am flabbergasted and frustrated with the amount of junk that clogs our mailbox is an understatement.

You don’t know conscience.

You know you’ve been treated to a pretty charmed life when you spend 30 minutes on email “clearing your conscience” with your brother about a decision you helped enforce 25 years ago NOT to see Captain EO at Disneyland.

My Mermaids are good (all three of them).
I have a good job in an unsteady time.
My family and friends humor me (in every sense of the phrase)…and the rest, and there is a lot of it, is gravy.

Thanks, I like life.

New links

Let’s give this a try…I have recently activated a plugin on my blog that will allow me (or you – I mean…I put it there for me but you are free to use it as well, of course) to send excerpts of my blog posts to my facebook account [gasp!] or my google buzz feed [ayyyyyeeee!].

I only plan on using google buzz and facebook – could care less about twitter and the rest – so those are the only ones enabled.

If I end up ditching my facebook account, and I might, then I may ditch that button as well.

To be clear, this blog doesn’t feel like it is about social networks, the number of trackbacks I get, or the amounts of “likes” or “shares” I see. It is about you and me.

You – you are probably a friend or family member with whom I speak and interact personally on a regular basis (sometimes irregularly). I like to tell stories to friends and family members and I like to have visuals with my pictures.

Me – I have a horrible memory for dates and well…for a lot of stuff. So this blog is about saving things like things The Mermaids said, stories of trips, and achievements of me and people around me.

If I ever write a blog that I wish to monetize or focus on something which is, or is part of, a niche in the blogosphere then I will get in touch with friends that know this kind of stuff and market the crap out of it probably putting it on every social network under the sun. (Mister Wong?! Really?)

We’ll see how this goes.

Good night Blief, sleep well, I’ll most likely kill links in the morning.

Wait, it is morning. Meh.

Flat tire

If for no other reason than as a tracking mechanism – I am here to report the first flat tire on my Schwalbe Durano tires over nearly the last 5000 miles (two sets of tires).
The interesting thing is I couldn’t locate the cause.

FiveK

Today, about 13 months after my first ride to work on my Silvio, I crested 5,000 miles (8,000 km).

I’m starting on my third set of wheels, 1/2 way through my second set of tires, third or fourth iteration of cargo carrying arrangement, second set of pedals, second handlebar setup and many more tweaks.
It is kinda hard to believe it can take 5000 miles to get a simple bike that I use nearly everyday dialed in – but that’s where I find myself.

Oh, and it is quite clear that I love riding this bike, like no other.
