Today was La Grande’s first official track meet.

High Jump – 2nd place at 4’4″ (#1 couldn’t clear 4’4″ either but she only needed one try to clear 4’2″)

800 M – 9th place

100 M – 3rd in Heat (no overall time)
It was a good day.

A parent likes to claim control.
A kid tends to take control.
A parent likes to claim influence.
A kid tends to exert influence.
If they both stay open and explore; who knows.
Dance? – nope

Well you can’t watch YouTube all day.

So…what are you doing now?
Writing a story – will you help me publish it online?
Yes, yes I will.
Let’s see where this goes.

TheWeeOne surveyed the fridge in her nightie and socks, …for a while.
Pragmatically-minded I marked time in my head:
* One
* Two
* Three
* (close the door already?)
Luckily I curtailed the pragmatist and sensitively asked,
What are you looking for?
Something ta eaaat…
I breathed in, to speak plainly, but she is not one to leave obvious statements stranded for long.
Whirling on her heel, back tightly arched, shoulders awash on the words, she continued the stream,
…cause my tummy
is as big
as the sky
of Newwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
Mexico!
An unusual snowstorm rolled through, in above freezing temperatures, and has closed school for two days.
It was between 6-7 inches at arms length from the patio – perhaps deeper were I to put on shoes.

Measurements aside, the event was fantastic.
Trees bowed down to it’s beauty.

Children (self included) squee’d for it’s accumulation.

Elvis made an appearance.

Puppies (self included) essentially refused to surmount it’s obstacle to carry on business as usual.

And lastly; monuments (erected with slave labor) were surmounted and admired by pilgrims both near and near.

I’m not a massive fan but I do like the team – and I watched the championship game.
One of the perks of working downtown is being able to quickly get out and see the 2016 champions roll by and celebrate the win!
My second victory parade!
Go Sounders!

What do you get when
A) You choose a low-carb / high-fat diet,
B) You are not clever/skilled with food preparation,
C) You tend towards the pragmatic end of the spectrum (i.e., you are cheap),
D) You do not have much time (i.e., you do not think about food in advance)

….annnnnnd then enough hot sauce and pepper added to never…taste…again.
Let’s call this one an over-adjustment.

and yes – you are seeing windshield glass, pulled off, and still glued to the back of the mirror foot(?).

If you are looking for a bucket-list item here are a few.
wait…wha?
Well, if you are my Great Aunt Hazel you don’t just put these on a lifetime bucket-list; you do them all in one year.
Or in successive weeks – as the case may be. (Search term = Iowa Bakken Pipeline protest)

That’s right, just last week she was at 10,000 feet with me, BopOp, and Louie…
And now she’s standing up for her beliefs related to oil pipeline construction across Iowa.
I won’t put words in her mouth – her belief is likely to be very specific and was clearly actionable.
I’m simply proud to be related to her and proud of her conviction.
