This explains everything

Abby on Santa's lap, 2005
This, in a nutshell, is how our christmas panned out.
Angela, Abby, and I are very lucky to have such a wonderful family, wonderful friends, and a very fortunate life.

The one Abby-ism that can’t be passed up:
Laying in bed at 08:30 waiting for Abby to wake up. I have been awake since 07:00…waiting.
08:30 and Angela and I are BOTH awake and growing more impatient.
So we start coughing loudly to no avail. Abby is sleeping more soundly than she did when she was an infant. Finally, I throw some weight behind a cough.

What is THAT? The Christmas Yeti!?

She is right and we start to giggle, which turns to muffled laughter and then a squeaky voice from the far side of the room.

Hey you guys, go back sleeping.
What…Why?
Cause Santa has to come.
(together) Honey, it’s morning-time. I think Santa has already come?
(pause…and then getting to her knees.) Pbbbbbllllgghghg!

As if SHE has been the one lying awake for the past hour and a half waiting for Santa.
We went downstairs and welcomed the morning.

Excited little Clara

This is a snapshot from before we watched the Nutcracker yesterday.
Abby was very excited and she enjoyed the show very much.
I got a tear in my eye as the show opened as I was so excited to see her so entranced by the lights and the production.
She was very engaged and with the exception of some fidgety minutes where she attempted to give Momma her belly button halfway through Act II she followed the drama closely. Her attention was clearly not held during that bit.
I think she expects to attend again next year.

Abby’s dance recital

The quality stinks on these images, they are only slightly better when they are moving (video) but you get the idea.
The recital went over very well. I know there were tears from Auntie Pam perhaps even some from Momma.
Abby was cute, beaming with the fun of it all, and she did very well to boot.
She even got in her full length bow at the end.

Think you can pick her out of the crowd below…I put in a subtle hint to assist where necessary.

Pandora

After talking with James and Will at the party yesterday I felt this may be something others would like to enjoy. (BTW, this is the music site Bill mentions over on his page.)

Basically, create a free account, name an artist or a song and based on the huge library of musical selections in the Music Genome Project the flash application at Pandora.com will play music in radio station format that is similar to what you chose. You can choose to skip songs but you can’t go back and replay previous titles. You can choose those that you like or dislike to further refine your chosen station.

Pretty neat. Thanks to Tony for showing this to me.
So, does that fulfill my music related blog posting requirement Jame?

New Girl in Seattle

Angela and I are having another girl. We saw the ultrasound tech yesterday for the typical 18-22 week invasion of privacy (the babies I mean). Can’t even be a lady anymore.
We couldn’t be happier. She is healthy and sound and doing well.
The amazing technology these days is able to check blood flow through the heart and umbilical cord with some kind of doppler that can tell which blood is coming and going and they can even closely anaylyze the ventricles of the heart, the alignment of the spine, the closure of key bones etc. Just the past 3 years (since Abby’s ultrasound) has seen huge strides between comparable technologies.
We told Abby over the past week that we were going to get a picture of the baby that day. Somehow she got it in her mind that we would SEE the baby.

Is it gonna open now?
Is what gonna open now?
Momma’s belly.

She is excited to show her baby sister how to help her put on dresses.
So, the key questions that seem to always get asked:

  1. Didn’t you want a boy? – No. I think there are more differences between people than there are between genders so that doesn’t play a part in it. I am happy she is “cooking well”.
  2. Do you have a name picked out? – No. And even if we did we must have some surprises for The Day. She will tell us her name on that day, and it won’t be Agghaghahhhh Zimmerman.

Without further ado, lets get on with the assault on her right to privacy.
The first shot shows her head on the right and her hand up “in the air” above her nose.
The second shot shows her little foot and partially developed bones in her tibia.

Big Girl in Seattle

We went and had pictures taken with Santa today.
Everywhere people noticed the beautiful dress, the little Dorothy basket and the beautiful girl.

My you have a beautiful dress! Are you going to see Santa?
Uh huh.
Oh and what a nice basket. How old are you?
(With her fingers) ‘three’
Three years old? You are a big girl aren’t you?!
Uh huh but sometimes I pee in my pants though.
