Human Power Challenge 2010

I just finished registering for the Human Power Challenge in Portland over Memorial Day weekend.
I registered for the 10 mile time trial event (Saturday PM) and the 200Meter (flying start) sprints (Sun AM).

My goal for the 10 mile event is an average of 23MPH over the 9.75 mile course.
My goal for the 200M sprint is any value over 30MPH.

I am using what I think I might be capable of compared with last years results (found here http://www.ohpv.org/HPC/index.html) and estimating where I might fit based on skills, bikes, etc.

Any real wind would probably mean adjustment of those goals as they are a little aggressive.

Gonna be fun though.

  1. Kick the tires and light the fires! I suggest you listen to Into the Danger Zone or The Eye of the Tiger while you ride.

  2. I was reading these post comments to Abby and she didn’t understand the song references. She knows Rocky so I took a chance and sang a little bit of “tiger”.
    She immediately reacted,
    “I know this song!”
    “You do?”
    “Yeah, oh where’s it from?”
“Yeah?” I was amazed, she was getting it!
    “Oh! I know! It’s from P.E.!”
    ??? – Arghhhhhh
